In 1981, a group of middle-management employees from Phase Linear Corporation pooled their knowledge of consumer electronics to create a new company, RANE. The company rose to prominence when famous sound designer Richard Long (Studio 54) contacted RANE in 1984 to help redesign his disco systems. Since then, RANE has become a premier DJ brand, with its product range including high-quality mixers, controllers, and accessories. RANE has played a significant role in the evolution of DJ technology, pioneering features like Serato Scratch Live, which revolutionised digital DJing.
