Moog Music: A History of Innovation

As a 19-year-old, Robert Moog founded Moog Music alongside his father in 1953. Moog began selling theremin kits to finance his university education. This would lead to the development of the Moog synthesiser, the first voltage-controller synthesiser with a keyboard, innovating subtractive synthesis that influenced the East Coast sound. Other innovations include the Minimoog, a groundbreaking analogue synthesiser introduced in the 1970s. Moog's commitment to analogue sound and design has left an indelible mark on the music industry, influencing genres from rock to electronic music. Despite the advent of software synths in the digital age, Moog products continue to be sought after by musicians and producers worldwide.
