Condenser Microphones

Condenser microphones are used in professional audio recording and live sound. They use a diaphragm placed close to a backplate, creating a capacitor (condenser) that vibrates when exposed to sound waves. Unlike dynamic microphones, condensers require external power, often provided by batteries or phantom power (+48v) from audio interfaces and mixers. They offer excellent sensitivity, capturing subtle nuances and high-frequency details with precision, making them ideal for studio vocals, acoustic instruments, and podcasting. Condenser mics are more sensitive to environmental conditions and can pick up unwanted background noise and spill in uncontrolled situations. They are also more prone to feedback in live applications. Condenser microphones are favoured for their transparency and accuracy, making them a staple in recording studios worldwide.
